Creating parts for The classic American motorcycle demands both strength and beauty. RobotWorx provided the solution with this RW1050 workcell outfitted with a Motoman UP6 XRC robot and a Fronius TransPulse Synergic 3200 CMT welder. In this application the robot manipulates a water cooled torch to weld mounting clips to the inside of motorcycle exhaust heat shields. The combination produces strong welds with the low heat signature needed to prevent distortion of the exterior of the part.

Programming is an important step in the automation process. Often, robots are put through a dry run in order to ensure the correct movements are being made before using a part. This saves sample parts and enables operators to make adjustments without wasting products.
This Panasonic AW-8010 is performing a dry run. The part is positioned on a 180 degree indexing table. This table allows an operator or another robot to load a part on the off side while the robot is welding. The welding screen protects the operator and the unfinished part.
